How God Tempers Your Fire to Perfection!
I think it is a right of passage for every Christian to get into a doctrinal debate at one point or another. Usually, this debate ends with you or both parties feeling drained, bruised, or battered - and in some cases, doubting some of your beliefs - because the other person pointed out some pretty clear loopholes in your argument. However, you are usually too steamed to really think about it!
My first real debate happened while I was still going through my prophetic training. I was on a missionary trip, and had taken a slight detour to visit my fiancé at the time. He brought me to his youth church to introduce me to his friends, and that night just so happened to be bible study night! That night they were discussing the book of Job and God’s will for sickness.
With Job being my favorite book of the bible and having had a personal experience (and conviction) with health and infirmity, I jumped up on my hobby horse and gave a very passionate argument as to why it is not God’s will that we be sick or cursed.
However, one person didn’t agree and we got into quite the heated debate. Then the gentleman asked me, “Well, if it’s not God’s will that we be sick, then why did He give satan license to harm Job?” Before I could give a good retort, the poor youth pastor took the moment I used to catch my breath to interrupt and take back control of the meeting… Needless to say, I felt rather salty afterwards, and sat grinding my teeth. While I was biting my tongue though, the Lord tapped me on the shoulder and prompted me to look around.
As I did, I noticed the other people in the room, but more importantly, I saw the damage I had done. As the pastor was trying to salvage the situation I could physically see some of the doubt and uncertainty weighing down my peers. No one had to say anything, because in that moment, I saw what my strong convictions had done. Instead of building up, I had torn down, and I had not even challenged anyone! I had lost focus of why God had my fiancé bring me to that meeting in the first place: to be the gift and introduce them to Jesus.
As a prophet, our tongues are sharp. They are created for building up and tearing down. This is also why the biggest part of a prophet’s training is all about shaping their character. God refines you as a person so that He can send you to anyone or to any environment, knowing you will have the self-control and awareness to bring out only the sweetest fragrance of Christ.
Prophet, God isn’t restricting your fire or telling you not to have a strong conviction. Rather, He’s just refining your fire so that you can be precise in what bits of dross you need to remove, instead of bringing more hurt and confusion by blowing someone’s belief to smithereens with your strong beliefs.
As one who was a demolitions expert in that area, I assure you, it will just breed more hurt and rejection than it will healing and peace. So, allow the refining to take place by submitting an application to our prophetic school below.
We specialize in wild, crazy, passionate prophetic purpose, and in tempering your fire to perfection!
