How Satan Gains License Through Others
I have a terrible habit of being very naive. Just the other day, I had to cross the Mexican border to take my son to a very important doctor’s appointment. Now, this happened during COVID drama, so I’m not allowed to cross the border unless it’s for the sake of my son’s medical appointments since he was a micro-preemie.
Anyway, we pulled up to the booth at the border and the officer there looked over my paperwork, and asked, “Reason for crossing?” I replied, “My son has an important cardiology appointment.”
He sat for a moment, looked over the paperwork again, and said, “You aren’t allowed into the United States of America unless it’s essential.” Having done this a few times, I assured the gentlemen all the paperwork was in order and we even had permission from a special cases supervisor and his note was in my file in the system. Finally, the border officer turned to me and said, “Look, you’re only allowed to cross because you’re your son’s mother, and he’s an American citizen. He has rights. You don’t. You’re only allowed to take him to this appointment. Otherwise, I have friends who will send you back.”
I thanked the officer and told him I understood. He handed me my paperwork and we went off on our merry way. It wasn’t until much later when I was telling my hubby about what had happened that I realized that the gentleman was actually threatening and warning me! I was shocked that I hadn’t realized it earlier. However, I was also grateful to the Lord for blinding and deafening me to it because the enemy was trying to use that officer and his warning to inspire a spirit of fear… a fear that I could get in trouble for stopping or doing anything else along the way to and from my son’s doctor’s appointment.
I took a moment to thank the Lord for saving me from that leaven, because a spirit of fear can be deadly to your faith and can be an open door for theft, destruction, and many other curses.

So, I won’t labor the point, but I ask you: Do you think that officer knew he was being used of the devil?
Of course not! This is how the enemy gets you. He’ll bring those people who get under your skin and he’ll give them those words to say that’ll hit you on an insecurity, or weak point. By identifying that person was used of the enemy and didn’t just have it out for you, you have already won half the war! Recognize those jabs aren’t coming from the people, but the enemy, just as it says in Ephesian 6:12, and start doing active warfare against him and his words. I’ve found it’s easier to war against the enemy in the spirit than people in the natural. You can easily crush the serpent under your heel after all!
